Last year over 100 students, along with their parents and teachers, gathered together at Alfred Nobel Elementary School in Chicago to celebrate writing. The above video shows the work of the Illinois Writing Project as well as the excitement of the Writing Palooza day.
Writing of many types is essential for student learning, success in college and career, personal development, and participation as active citizens in their communities. The Illinois Writing Project works with teachers across Chicago and northern Illinois, helping them guide students to write meaningfully, effectively, and with high engagement. Now, at a new annual event, the IWP Writing Palooza, students across the city get to write and share their voice about topics and issues that matter to them.
