Featured Speaker: Ralph Fletcher

Join Ralph Fletcher as he discusses the joy and craft of writing.

Nothing helps writers grow like practice. But not just any kind of practice will do. A writer needs wide latitude so she can bring all her intelligence to the task. Assigning a particular format—a hamburger essay, for instance would curtail this play, if not eliminate it entirely. That’s why we must give students time and autonomy for playful, lowstakes writing, along with craft lessons & mentor text leading to surprising, high-level growth.
